Ramadan-ul-Mubarak is the holiest month of the Islamic year, and the Muslims consider it the most sacred month due to many reasons. It helps us to attain taqwa and Taqwa helps us to get closer to Allah Almighty. It is Ramadan month when the first revelation of the Holy Quran was descent from Allah Almighty. So, the Muslims recite the Holy Quran in this month and organize different Quran Mehfils where the Muslims gather to recite the Holy Quran collectively.
The youngsters also feel the same zest and zeal for practicing the fasting in Ramadan month. They follow their elders and do fasting at a younger age. Fasting is a religious obligation on every Muslim above 12 years of age — every healthy and adult Muslim need to practice fasting to please Allah Almighty.
In one hadith, the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa’alihi Wasallam) says, “Ramadan has come to you. (It is) A month of blessing, in which Allah covers you with blessing, for He sends down Mercy, decreases sins and answers prayers. In it, Allah looks at your competition (in good deeds) and boasts about you to His angels. So show Allah goodness from yourselves, for the unfortunate one is he who is deprived in (this month) of the mercy of Allah, the Mighty, the Exalted.” [ImamTabarani]
