Making the Most of Your Jungle Adventure in Thailand

Visiting the beautiful country of Thailand is without any doubt a dream come true for any outdoor enthusiast.  With more than 25,000 square kilometers of pristine lakes, wildlife sanctuaries, and beautiful national parks that are home to an exquisite variety of flora, animals, birds, reptiles, insects, and marine life. The country’s biggest rain forest, which can be found inside the Khao Sok National Park, has become particularly popular over recent years. If you have been yearning to explore these lush green jungles but are not quite sure how to prepare, don’t despair, a few simple guidelines will help you to make the most of your adventure.

Find Comfortable Accommodations

While you may be eager to rough it in the jungle, you would regret not having lush, comfortable accommodation to return to after an exhilarating day outside.  There are, thankfully, many top-notch accommodation options available in Khao Sok National Park. If you really want to make the most of your trip, book into a luxury hotel or resort that will cater to your every whim.  The Khao Sok Morning Mist Resort sports beautiful rooms and suites, a swimming pool, and a variety of massage services to help you relax while the eco-friendly Our Jungle Camp offers adventurers accommodation in tranquil tree houses, bungalows, and bamboo huts that all have their own private bathroom and breath-taking views of the surrounding forest or nearby river.

Sign up for a Variety of Activities

If you want to truly experience the magic of the Khao Sok jungle, make sure you sign up for a variety of activities, even if your trip is meant to be focused on only one.  Some of the must-do activities that will make for an exhilarating experience include zip-lining, hiking, and spending time canoeing on the Sok River. If you really want your trip to be memorable, also consider signing up for a few less common activities such as visiting an elephant retirement center and taking a night-time jungle safari. If you find yourself falling in love with traditional Thai food, don’t forget to enroll in a jungle cooking class that will provide you with hands-on experience in making an array of delectable Thai dishes.

Pack for the Jungle

When visiting the Khao Sok National Park it is essential that you pack everything you might need, even though there are a number of well-stocked shops you can buy essential items from.  Although you definitely need to pack at least one set of clothing designed for cooler weather (depending on how long your trip is, of course) the bulk of your luggage should consist of cool, quick-drying clothes. You will also need no fewer than two pairs of comfortable walking shoes, a pair of water shoes, and a good-quality sun hat. Other essentials to remember include a rechargeable torch, waterproof sunscreen with a high SPF, water purifying tablets (just in case), basic toiletries, and any personal medication you may require.  Bug repellent and a lightweight raincoat are also must-haves but those you can purchase at your destination.

If you like outdoor adventures, a trip to the Khao Sok National Park should definitely be on your bucket list. With some decent planning, your trip into the jungle could turn out to be one of the best you have ever had.
